Music executive Seyi Sodimu has shared his perspective on the influence of Nigerian music stars beyond the stage, distinguishing Burna Boy and Davido.
Speaking on the What I Know podcast hosted by actress Shaffy Bello, the former singer praised Burna Boy’s dominance as a live performer, describing him as an artist who has fully conquered the stage.
However, Sodimu noted that when it comes to influence outside music — particularly in politics — Davido stands on an entirely different level. According to him, Davido’s appeal transcends music and connects deeply with the public.
In his words, Burna Boy may be exceptional live, but Davido’s reach goes beyond entertainment. He added that if Davido were to run for Governor today, he believes he would win, expressing doubt that Burna Boy would command the same level of political support.
“Burna Boy has conquered the stage and is good live. Davido surpasses music; if he ran for Governor today, he will win. I don’t think Burna Boy could win as Governor.”
