There is a kind of exhaustion that comes with adulthood that nobody really warns you about. ADULTING IS EXHAUSTING
It is not always the kind that disappears after a good night’s sleep. Sometimes, you wake up after eight hours and still feel tired. You go to work, answer messages, pay bills, make plans, solve problems, show up for people, and somehow find yourself wondering when you are actually supposed to rest.
When we were younger, adulthood sounded like freedom.
We thought we would grow up, get a job, make our own money, have our own place, fall in love, and eventually figure everything out.
Nobody really told us that adulthood could also mean constantly having something to worry about.
There is always something.

A bill that needs to be paid. A career decision that needs to be made. A family member who needs you. A relationship you are trying to understand. A future you are trying to plan for. A dream you are trying not to give up on.
And sometimes, you are simply tired of being the person who has to figure things out.
The strange thing is that you can be doing your best and still feel like you are not doing enough.
You can work hard and still not be where you thought you would be by now. You can be grateful for your life and still wish some things were different. You can love your family and still need space from everyone. You can have good friends and still feel lonely. You can be proud of how far you have come and still miss the person you thought you would become.

Adulthood is full of these contradictions.
And perhaps that is what makes it so exhausting.
We are constantly being asked to hold several emotions at once.
Be ambitious, but don’t burn out.
Save money, but enjoy your life.
Build a career, but make time for relationships.
Take care of your family, but don’t forget yourself.
Stay positive, but acknowledge how difficult things are.
Keep going, even when you don’t know where you are going.

And then, somehow, we are expected to make it all look effortless.
Social media has not made this easier.
Every time you open your phone, someone is announcing a new job, buying a house, getting married, travelling somewhere beautiful, launching a business, having a baby, graduating, moving abroad, or achieving something they have been working toward.
You know, logically, that you are only seeing a small part of their lives.
But sometimes your heart forgets.
You begin to wonder whether everyone else received a manual for adulthood that somehow never reached you.
Maybe you are supposed to be further ahead.
Maybe you made the wrong choices.
Maybe you wasted too much time.
Maybe everyone else has figured it out.
But the truth is, most people are figuring it out as they go.
Some are just better at hiding the uncertainty.
Some people look incredibly confident while privately wondering whether they are making the right decisions. Some people seem successful but are exhausted. Some people appear to have everything together and still lie awake at night wondering what happens next.
You are not the only one.
And you are not failing simply because life feels harder than you expected.
Maybe adulthood was never supposed to be about finally having all the answers.
Maybe it is about learning how to live with some unanswered questions.
Learning that plans change.
That people leave.
That some dreams take longer than expected.
That sometimes you have to start again.
That there will be seasons when you feel incredibly certain about your life and others when you have absolutely no idea what you are doing.
And that is okay.
You don’t have to turn every difficult season into a lesson immediately.
Sometimes you can simply admit, “This is hard.”
You can rest.
You can change your mind.
You can ask for help.
You can take a step back without feeling like you are moving backwards.
You can be proud of yourself for surviving a year that did not go according to plan.
You can give yourself permission to become someone different from the person you thought you would be.
Because perhaps one of the hardest things about growing up is realizing that there is no moment when someone suddenly hands you a certificate saying, Congratulations. You are finally an adult. You now know what you are doing.
There is just you.
Learning.
Trying.
Making mistakes.
Starting over.
Paying the bills.
Loving people.
Losing people.
Finding yourself again.
And doing your best to make a meaningful life somewhere in the middle of all of it.
So if adulthood has been exhausting you lately, please be a little kinder to yourself.
You are carrying more than you sometimes acknowledge.
And you do not need to have everything figured out before you are allowed to feel proud of yourself.
Maybe you are not behind.
Maybe you are simply tired.
And maybe, for today, you do not need to fix your entire life.
Maybe you just need to breathe, rest, and remind yourself that you are still becoming.
It gets better, right?
Wishing you well.
