You Can Love the Wrong Person and Still Be a Good Person

Have you ever looked back at someone you loved and wondered, “What was I thinking?”

Maybe they broke your heart. Maybe they never treated you the way you deserved. Or maybe you simply realised that the two of you were never meant to walk the same path.

It can be confusing because the love was real.

One of the hardest life lessons is accepting that love and compatibility are not the same thing. You can deeply love someone and still be completely wrong for each other.

We often grow up believing that love conquers everything. Movies tell us that if two people love each other enough, everything else will somehow work itself out.

Real life doesn’t always work that way.

Sometimes you love someone whose values don’t match yours. Sometimes you love someone who isn’t emotionally available. Sometimes you love someone who keeps hurting you without changing. And sometimes you love someone who simply cannot give you the kind of relationship you need.

If you’re finding it difficult to let go of someone you still love, remember this: missing someone is not proof that they belong in your future. It simply means they were once important to you.

Healing often begins when we stop asking, “Do I love them?” and start asking, “Is this relationship helping me become the person I want to be?

Because the right person is not just someone you love.

The right person is someone who loves you well.

If you’ve loved the wrong person before, don’t be ashamed of it. Most of us have. Every relationship teaches us something about ourselves, our needs, and the kind of love we deserve.

One day you’ll realise that the love you had wasn’t wasted. It prepared you to recognise healthier love when it finally arrives.

It gets better, right?

Wishing you well.
